#StyleNotAge Challenge
Dear friends. Emma has chosen a great topic for this month's Style Not Age challenge: Golden Girls. With New Year's Eve round the corner it's a timely choice.
I won't actually be doing anything on NYE, apart from staying in and watching new arrival on Netflix, Birdsong.
But I love gold and it was a great opportunity to style my 60s gold brocade dress a different way.
I'm wearing a genuine 60s dress, bought on Etsy, with gold boots (Oliver Bonas, old). I added a cream silky roll neck from Kettlewell to "winterise" it. My leopard bag is old, from Next. I tried a leopard belt too (Kettlewell) but didn't think it added anything.
Let's see how the others styled Golden Girls.
Jacqui from Mummabstylish is wearing a gold sequin skirt from F & F, old camo top and new fur jacket from Izabel. Her shoes are also old from New Look.
Anna from Anna's Island Style is wearing gold trousers and a new jacket, both from Vinted. She shopped her wardrobe for the rest.
Hilda from Over the Hilda is rocking gold tones rather than pure gold, which is great as it means we're all interpreting the challenge differently this month. Her gold bag, jumper and boots are all from her wardrobe; skirt is from Dunnes Stores.
Emma from
Stylesplash, whose prompt this is, has a gorgeous gold jack jacket from eBay (no label), a blouse from Monsoon (current) and velvet trousers from Very. Her clutch is very old (20+ years!) from Warehouse.
I hope you enjoyed our gold looks! Maybe we have inspired you, if you are going out on New Year's Eve.
It's actually my last Style Not Age challenge. I'm stepping away from challenges to blog occasionally. I'll be writing about books and my month (last Friday of the month) with style and beauty posts on a more infrequent basis.
I thought it would be fun to look back at four years of Style Not Age.
I first took part in February 2020. The prompt was Hilda's choice,
Flower Power, and this what I chose. I still have the jacket, jeans and boots.
Before Style Not Age, there was a challenge which I started, 5 Over 50, which featured Jacqui, Laurie from Vanity and Me, Hilda from Over the Hilda, and Anna from Anna's Island Style.
My favourite challenge there was one of the most difficult. It was
Amazing Lace in September 2017,
posed by Jacqui. I don't ever wear lace, so I had to put my thinking hat on. I decided to do something radically different: a kind of Madonna (Desperately Seeking Susan) meets Goth look. I bought the lace gloves and skirt on eBay and the fascinator from Etsy. The rest was in my wardrobe. Then I summoned the courage to go to the local cemetery to take pictures! The hand to head pose seems to have my default back then.....
The most difficult Style Not Age challenge for me was Emma's
Eye of the Tiger, in January 2022. At the time I was wearing cool tones, thinking I was a winter, so I didn't have any yellow, or tiger print.
Inspiration struck, and instead of an outfit I showed a tiger eye pendant! I bought it on Etsy and wasn't expecting it to be quite so small. Difficult to photograph! I don't think the others were too impressed with that. Notice how the black is wearing me?
Are you a Golden Girl or do you prefer silver? Are you going Out Out on New Year's Eve. and if so what are you wearing? Do tell in the comments.
I love gold, so I loved all the looks! Maybe I even buy golden trousers! Love your boots too. And I'm wishing you a lovely New Years Eve anyway!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy! Happy New Year to you.
