Dear friends. Today I'm sharing favourite skirts chosen by of 9 Instagrammers. We've just taken part in my annual #7DaySkirtChallenge.
Some of the women may be familiar to you; others might be new. I'm confident at least one of them will inspire you to wear a skirt!
I enjoy wearing skirts all year round: bare legged in summer, with trainers or sandals, and adding tights and boots in autumn and winter.
Lately I've been buying mostly pre-loved skirts, and nothing longer than knee length (I still have some midi skirts though and did share one of them in the challenge).
The outfit I chose for today's feature makes me feel happy when I wear it because of the bright colours. You know me and my mission to stay bright all year round!
The coral skirt from Boden I bought pre-loved from eBay. The scarf, top and wrap are all from Kettlewell, and a bit of a uniform for me along with colourful tights (these came from Snag). Shoes from Jones Bootmakers.
Let's see what the others chose as theirt favourite look. I've used their Instagram handle plus a link to their blogs where applicable.
Elle, USA
@funky_fearless_fashionista
Elle's choice is a skirt that is really a poncho. It's a good example of this New York based style maven's ingenuity and creativity.
Elle, who's 40 in a couple of weeks, says shortly after the official start of autumn, she became obsessed with adding a new plaid skirt to her collection. "I had a very specific combination of colors in mind. Something unique and retro - 70’s style. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, but I remembered reading about a scarf skirt hack in a vintage styling booklet. That’s how I came up with this “non-skirt” skirt."
Chez Mireille, USA
@chezmireillefashiontravelmom
Mireille says she was very inspired by others for her skirt outfits for this year's 7 days of skirts challenge. Her favorite features a blazer and tee that were thrifted for $2.50 each. She shopped her closet for the skirt and boots.
@grownupglamour
Jill's favourite skirt was a multi tiered khaki tulle skirt from Dogstar in Brisbane that she found on a visit there in April. The Tasmanian blogger paired it with an interesting recycled Comme de Garçon top, beads, a bangle stack and bronze wedges.
@shelley_faye_lazar
Textile designer Shelley, who's based in Malvern, Worcs, says her outfit encompasses one of my favourite colour combinations and just fills her with joy, - hence the colours she used for her scarf, one of her own designs. She says: "I’m not usually a skirt wearer by habit, and this is one of the four I own. I love wearing it for the sparkle and swish of the pleats!"
Shelley's skirt is from Primark, shoes The House of Bruar, scarf Shelley_faye_lazar, tights from paradise4women on eBay, green jumper from TU at Sainsburys.
Judith, Australia
@Judith_fashionandtravel
Judith, who's 75, chose a skirt by Australian brand Keshet who are based in Tasmania.
"Why do I like it? Partly because of the vibrant colours but also because it is pure cotton and made by a company with ethical credentials. It’s also cool to wear on a hot day and easy to get on and off."
Gabbie @fortheloveofcolours.gg, UK
Colour consultant Gabbie Greenberg is a passionate advocate of making winter colourful, as endorsed by Trinny Woodhall. She says she chose red because she was doing several colour talks that day, and red is guaranteed to make an impact. Red is also great for confidence & an energy boost.
Gabbie has over 20 years’ experience in Sales, Marketing & Fashion and launched her own business last year.
The red jacket is from an independent womenswear shop called @cocoivyfashion. Skirt from an on line store called @tlmedit. The top is from @jameslakelandofficial.
Nelly (@nelly_rewears), Netherlands
Jeanelle keeps an outfit diary to help her enjoy what she already has. She says: "My style is colourful and a bit quirky. I love products like wool and linen, preferably produced in Europe.
"This is my favourite skirt at the moment because I have sewn it myself. The fabric is Scottish tweed. It can be worn neat or sporty. I like sturdy boots a lot, but sometimes that’s not appropriate sadly. It also has big pockets and the colours fit well in my scheme, without being very obvious."
Marsha from Marsha in the Middle, USA
@marsha_in_the_middle
"I have had this J Jill skirt since sometime in the 90s and combined it with a cardigan purchased from Sundance a few years later. My Born boots are almost as old. In fact, the only new things are my earrings and necklace.
I’m fairly new to blogging and write primarily, about fashion. But, I’m also a co-host for Songful Style and Ageless Style as well as the weekly Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot on Thursday evenings. I love to write for the Tell Us About Global Writing Challenge each month, too!
