Old, New and a Bit of Blue

 With Wow on Wednesday

Is This Mutton in statement tartan flats from Boden and a matching skirt

Dear friends. I've got a couple of new items to share today: a show-stopping pair of flat tartan shoes, and a pair of jeans in the unusual shade of duck egg blue.

The shoes caught my eye as soon as I spotted them at Boden and I paid full price (£110).  There's currently 15%  off on the Boden site, plus the shoes come in Dalmation spots and two other shades as well  (be still my beating heart!). I knew the tartan shoes would go perfectly with my pre-loved Kettlewell skirt, which made its debut outing for my #7DaySkirtChallenge on Instagram.
The shoes will also go with my Fabienne Chapot red and blue plaid dress

I'm wearing the skirt and shoes with a Kettlewrap wrap in scarlet and essential V top in antique white.

This is a bit of a signature outfit for me in winter as I have several shortish skirts and short tie wraps, and it's a flattering look if you're petite. The wrap creates a waist.  Wearing a skirt on or slightly above the knee is better proportionately than a midi or maxi skirt, which can swamp those 5'4 and under.

Also new are these duck egg jeans from Kettlewell.  I waited until a few other women had bought the jeans and shown them on the colour club Facebook group.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear they were good on the more petite women, so I ordered them. I'm 5'3 but my legs are proportionately longer than my short body.

They're a good fit:  they're better around the waist than the M&S Eva jeans which I tend to favour.  The Kettlewell jeans come in several colours. Duck egg was not listed for Spring (my season) but I think they will go very well with the spring blues, pinks and reds.

The jeans helped me build a "total look" as I  was able to wear my turquoise brogues from Embassy London and necklace (Etsy) plus the contrast of my Kettlewell Becca sweater in emerald turquoise and a quick pop of very on-trend leopard in the belt, also Kettlewell. The jeans are a great match for my turquoise raincoat too!

Are you ever stopped in your tracks by a fantastic pair of shoes or boots?  Or do you tend to prefer more practical footwear in black or brown?  Do tell in the comments. Scroll down below the link-up to find the comments box.
