Gold Brocade Dress

And Wow on Wednesday

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in a vintage 60s cream and gold brocade dress

Dear friends.  I've bought another original vintage dress! In cream and gold brocade it really caught my eye at Etsy.

I immediately earmarked it for a reunion event in October, although I'll need to wear it with a silky roll neck or jacket of some description, as it's sleeveless.

The label says Global - Styled in Paris. As before with my dresses here and here, it's wonderful quality. The secret from buying vintage clothes at Etsy is to take your measurements and compare them with those given for each item.  Most pieces cannot be returned, but as long as you've checked the measurements, and know what styles suit you, you should be fine.

I took the pictures at nearby Waltham Abbey gardens. All that remains of the Abbey are ruins. The first church was built on the site c.610 at the bidding of Sabert, King of the East Saxons and nephew of Ethelbert. King Harold Godwinson, who died at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, is buried at the present church.  Below: what remains of an old forge

If the dress doesn't make it to the reunion I'll keep it for a party or special event. I'm wearing it with green velvet flats, old, from Next, and a sequin gold bag, old, from New Look.  Gold tote bag, top picture, old, from Moda in Pelle.

I hope you enjoyed the scenic setting. I'm getting more confident about going out on my own taking pictures without feeling too silly!

Please note, this will be the last link-up until 28 August as Is This Mutton will be on a summer break.  A couple of posts will appear between now and then to keep your interest.

The favourites from last week have been chosen by me as representative of the posts shared.

  2. What a stunning dress! But please don't wear a rollneck under it, that would be such a pity of that beautiful neck line. I think you are very brave to take photos on a public place. And I want to read everything about your cycle trip, I think that is wonderful! And thank you so much for the feature!
