April Showers: Style Not Age Challenge

Gail Hanlon proves raincoats don't need to be dreary in her turquoise trench from Asos

Dear friends.  April Showers is this month's prompt for the Style Not Age challenge.  Chosen by Hilda from Over the Hilda, it's very apt because it's been pouring for the last couple of days (and indeed, most of early April).

Raincoats are a tricky business.  They're usually in three colours:  stone/ beige, black, navy.  I have a stone coloured trench in the traditional style but I wanted something more unique, in a bright colour.

I found this turquoise raincoat at Asos for £37  (out of stock). It's a perfect colour to go with most of my seasonally-analysed as spring clothes.  The umbrella, featuring Monet's water lilies, is from Amazon.

I quite often go for walks in the rain - it doesn't bother me if I have the right clothes on. For those walks I tend to wear a more utilitarian black or purple rain jacket by The North Face.  My turquoise raincoat is intended for when I'm going "up west"  (as we Londoners call it) on a more smartly dressed occasion.

Let's see how my style friends got on. Hilda from Over the Hilda is a lucky lady, she has a new Max Mara Weekend mac. Her jeans are from Cos and jumper Whistles.

Anna from Anna's Island Style is wearing an old raincoat and everything else is from Vinted.

I was intrigued to see if Emma from Stylesplash would have a brightly coloured raincoat, and she does!  It's from Boden, bought on eBay years ago. Her top is Monki (from Vinted), Marks & Spencer trousers, hat from Anthropologie, Converse trainers and bag from TK Maxx.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish is keeping dry in vintage coat from the 80’s, jumper from H&M, jeans from M&S trainers and blue cap from her son’s Doggetts race.

I hoped you enjoyed our outerwear - and let's hope the showers are less frequent in May! What do you wear when it rains? Do tell in the comments.

These are the fantastic sites where I share my posts.
