White Jeans in Winter

 & Wow on Wednesday

A jaunty silk scarf adds some drama to white jeans, a red top and a denim jacket for Is This Mutton

Dear friends. I know there's a saying in the US that you shouldn't wear white jeans after Labor Day. Here in the UK, we have no Labor Day and no such edict, but most would say that white jeans are impractical because of puddles and mud. I disagree!

There's no reason to discard your white or cream jeans. Just don't wear them on muddy walks, or at toddlers' parties.

If you're better in light colours, like me, they can be dragged down by dark neutrals.  So I like to stick with my white and cream bottoms all year round.

Is This Mutton on wearing white jeans throughout winter

For my first look, a colourful scarf is the star of the show.  My scarf is by Shelley Faye Lazar, who has some beautiful and distinctive designs of silk scarf.  I'm wearing it with white jeans, old, from M&S, a red Darcey top from Kettlewell and my (old) denim jacket from Amazon, plus red and black ankle boots.

Add a coat on top - this year's oversize will work well - and you're good to go to the pub or cinema.

Next I've taken a blouse which looks quite summery, and "winterised" it but still using white and cream jeans.

Two looks for a summer blouse and white jeans, for winter, with Is This Mutton

This is the Rita blouse (current) by Kettlewell in light giraffe, plus the same jeans as before plus the Liza sleeveless cardigan in pink rose and belt in tutti frutti, both by Kettlewell. The pink boots are very old but still come up trumps.

I wondered how useful a sleeveless cardigan would be, but indoors when we have the heating on, it's a good choice.  I tend to over heat very easily.

Now I've changed the look by switching the pink cardigan for emerald turquoise - there's a similar colour in the blouse. My Hawaii belt also echoes one of the colours, and the green velvet boots tone nicely.  This time I'm wearing a colour called calico for the bottoms, M&S Cotton Rich Relaxed Straight Trousers (current), now reduced to £27.62. I'm wearing the short/petite length, which is a good length for me at 5'4. I used to wear their Regular length but they seem to have got longer.

And finally, here's a dressy look with a white M&S skirt, yellow Darcey top, soft white wrap and leopard print belt (Kettlewell), rose gold boots, old, (Hush) and leopard clutch (old, Next).

  1. I love the second outfit, with the sleeveless cardigan! Beautiful colours. I never wear white, or off white, because it just doesn't suit me. But I love a neutral l outfit.

    1. I don't wear white too close to my face as it makes me look very pale, although I make an exception in Greece every year when I have a slight tan!

  4. I hear you! Cars can make white coats or jeans very dirty, getting rid of frost!
