& #WowOnWednesday
Dear friends. Brown is one of my favourite neutrals for autumn and winter. It looks more contemporary than boring old black, and is a good foil for my warm and light coloured wardrobe. I was thrilled to find my perfect skirt at Cotton Traders, in their new Alex Jones collection.
The Pull On Stretch Cord skirt in Mocha, £35, ticks several boxes for me (scroll down for the link). It's a good length for wearing with long boots and in a soft but not bulky corduroy. so it doesn't add inches. Even better, it pulls on, so no need to undo all the buttons, which I find a particular bugbear on denim skirts.
The skirt has several good design features: flattering A-line shape, mock button-through front with mock horn buttons, side-entry front pockets, back patch pockets and belt loops - I love to wear a belt. It's a fast way to elevate a look.
Tutti frutti leopard belt, Chloe jacket in cream and silky roll neck in peach echo, all from Kettlewell. Leopard clutch, old, Next. The boots, current, are from Asos. I'm wearing a size 10 in the skirt. I'll be styling it many different ways over the next few months.
Short Sleeve Woollies as Transitioning Pieces
Many of us in the UK have been enjoying warm temperatures in the last few days (apologies to Scotland where it's been raining). A short sleeved cardigan or jumper/sweater is a great transitional piece when it's not cold but you're thinking "It's October."
I love the word "woolly." Does it have non-UK readers scratching their heads?
I chose this Short Sleeve Cutest Cable Cardigan in China Blue, £32 from Cotton Traders. The colour is similar to periwinkle. It has on-trend cabling. The cardi is also available in cream and soft lemon. I've added a lot of my trademark colour to this look.
Flares and bootleg jeans are having a moment, so I'm wearing my M&S Eva bootcut jeans (old) along with a lobelia top and warm coral belt by Kettlewell. The orange is echoed in my necklace, from Etsy, and a stripe on the Kurt Geiger rainbow bag. Meanwhile the purple of my top is picked out by my sparkly brogues from Supadance. I hardly ever wear the jeans but I must confess to being surprised by how long they make my legs look. I need to put aside my skinny jeans!
I'm wearing a size 10 in the cardigan and it's true to size.
Are you in team black or brown for your fall/autumn skirts and trousers? Do you ever refer to knitwear as "woollies"? Do let us know in the comments. Find the comments box by scrolling down past the link-up.
Disclosure: I was gifted with two items by Cotton Traders. I am under no obligation to post about gifted items, and I always give my honest opinion without copy approval. Nothing else was gifted.

We love brown don't we! Surprising how that preach looks on the skirt, it's gorgeous. Also love your hair a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved peach and brown together, this is a more vibrant peach. I'm having my hair cut next week but not by much, also liking it a bit longer
DeleteOh this is nice on you Gail. That’s a great skirt, I love that it’s pull on too! Thanks for the linkup hun x Jacqui.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jacqui! It doesn't look like a pull-on does it? Glad I don't have to fiddle with buttons
