Northern Lights Inspired

 And #WowOnWednesday

Recreating pink and yellow tones of the aurora borealis, Is This Mutton's Gail Hanlon

Dear friends. Here's an unusual spin on fashion and colour.  The monthly challenge in the Kettlewell Colour Club is Aurora Borealis.  Yes, the Northern Lights.  You choose an inspiration pic and style an outfit using similar colours.

Most Northern Lights are green in colour but sometimes you’ll see a hint of pink, and strong displays might also have red, violet and white colours.

Sometimes it can look pink with yellow - see my inspo and interpretation above and below.

An easy one to recreate is the aurora in blue and purple tones.

I'm determined to carry on wearing brights throughout winter. More on how to do that next week, as it's not easy to find outerwear in pretty colours.

Outfit details:  yellow and pink - Chloe jacket in soft yellow, infinity scarf in Sunshine, essential V neck in coral, belt in limoncello, all by Kettlewell;  jeans (current) from Sosandar, boots, old, from Hush.

Blue and purple:  Chloe jacket in blue jewel,  Charli top in ultra violet (current) from Kettlewell, Georgian necklaces from Etsy, trousers from Robell (old), brogues from The Bias Cut (old).

The Northern Lights were the inspiration for two brightly coloured outfits at Is This Mutton

I asked a couple of friends in the Kettlewell Colour Club to share their interpretations. Here's Alex Kendall with a very colourful aurora pic and doing it justice with an amazing scarf.  Alex, a sprinter winter (cool toned)  is wearing: Raspberry cami, Dark emerald cosy V, Dark amethyst Shelley wrap, all from Kettlewell, and silk scarf from Shelley Faye Lazar

Kellee Heffernan Heisel, from Indiana, US, is also a sprinter winter. She is also a perfect match for her aurora picture, wearing Kettlewell's Monaco stripe sweater with the Penny Fleece Gilet in Dark navy, acid yellow Florence infinity and new cashmere fingerless gloves in hot pink which arrived just in time for the cold, from Turtle Doves.

Sally Mantoura, a Summer, has given a different spin by sharing a lovely English sunrise and her interpretation in an outfit.

I hope you enjoyed our creative take on the aurora borealis and sunrise. Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? They are sometimes glimpsed in Scotland and the north of England, but are more often seen in the Nordic countries, as well as in the US.   Do let us know in the comments. Find the comments box below the link-up.

I'm off to Plymouth for a few days and a big reunion with colleagues I first met in 1979.

There are several posts for the coming days. On Friday an exciting book, The Drowning Place by SW Kane, is in the spotlight. On Monday, I'm back with Jacqui, Hilda, Emma and Anna for the Style Not Age challenge, styling outfits themed around Jeans and Jewels.  Hope you can join us.

I'm sharing this post with these lovely sites.   Nothing was gifted for this post. Everything bought by me.
