Crushing Crochet

 #StyleNotAgeChallenge

In the monthly Style Not Age Challenge Gai Hanlon from Is This Mutton has found a charity shop dress with a crochet overlay for Crushing Crochet

Dear friends. Another month has sped by and it's time for the Style Not Age Challenge, where 5 style bloggers set each other a monthly prompt for an outfit.

This time it was set by Jacqui from Mummabstylish - Craving Crochet.

Crochet is having a bit of a moment this summer and is seen on many celebrities in the form of tanks, bags, hats, tops, dresses and so on.

I was thrilled to find my dress, which is lime satin with a crochet overlay, in a local charity shop for £5.  It's rare to find a collared dress in this retro gamine style, and I played on the 60s vibe with my flat rose gold shoes (old, Boden)

A lime satin dress with crochet overlay and gamine white collar, worn by over 60s style blogger Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton.

Lime green is one of my favourite colours.  I did have an ideal small bag in lime which I planned to use, but I forgot that I donated it to charity a few months ago!

Let's see how my style friends got on. Jacqui, from Mummabstylish, whose challenge this is, is wearing a Boohoo striped dress from Vinted. She plans to take it up. Jacqui is wearing it with heels and a black tote bag.

Hilda from Over the Hilda had to change her outfit plans because she hurt her hands: she fell on grass and bent one finger back and fractured it, and damaged a knuckle on the other hand. This unfortunate mishap meant she couldn't wear her original outfit. The things we bloggers do for fashion! The suit is newish from a local boutique. Hope the fingers feel better soon Hilda.

Anna from Anna's Island Style shopped her closet for this crochet offering. It's a charity find by Karen Millen which was a joy to discover and she only paid £8 for it. Anna has teamed it with satin trousers and satin kitten heels, white vest top and leather belt (another charity shop bargain at £5).

Finally Emma from Stylesplash has chosen her trademark bright colours for the bank holiday. The vest is from The Chain Designs, blouse from The Hippe Shake, trousers are Zara, sunglasses from Monki.

I hope you enjoyed our variety of crochet.  Is it a trend you've embraced, or have you made use of an  old crochet item in your wardrobe?  Do let us know in the comments.
