Dear friends. It's the 2022 Is This Mutton survey! For the third year running, I'm hoping to get your responses - and it's a fun questionnaire. We're looking at who keeps our homes clean, the worst chores, and how much time we spend on cleaning.
It will be fascinating to see variations by age. This time the survey is open to anyone over the age of 20. Also, are there any differences by country?
Here at Mutton Towers, the hubster and I have a gender split of household chores rather like the 1950s. He takes out the bins, sorts all the tech issues, tackles DIY (occasionally) and sometimes cleans my car. Mr Mutton never cooks anything and never does any of the household shopping or cleaning.
My grandmother's house always smelt beautifully of beeswax and lavender, and granddad used to help with the cleaning. But at just 14 years old she was sent to work in a hotel and spent hours cleaning floors on her hands and knees. Read more about cleaning in the 1920s in my old blog.
