Bright Pink and Khaki - Plus Link-Up

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in khaki cargo trousers and bright pink blouse and sandals

I can't tell you how long I've been looking for a pair of khaki cargo pants.  Khaki is such a great neutral and it goes wonderfully well with bright colors like red, pink and orange.

My new trousers are from Mint Velvet and have some nice button detail. I've given them a spin with a new silk blouse in raspberry pink from Marks and Spencer, and my trusty pink sandals from years ago. I must confess we haven't yet had suitable weather for sandals, these photos were grabbed when there was a brief dry interval!  It is on track to be the wettest May on record.

The little bag is from Amazon and the belt from Kettlewell.  I used to wear a lot of silk tops and remembered why I stopped buying them:  they're prone to marking very easily.  As I pulled this top on, I was terrified it would have deodorant marks. It does feel lovely on the skin.

I'm sure many of you are Eurovision fans and were among the millions who watched on Saturday. I used to be a HUGE fan but stopped watching about 10 years ago. Although the UK helps to fund the contest - which is why we don't have to qualify in the semis - the BBC seems committed to an approach of not winning, which is why, year after year,  we have an awful song and an ordinary singer.

Sometimes they give the public the chance to choose the entry but the selection is usually woeful and consists of former X Factor wannabes. I don't even remember how we got to choose James Newman, although he was scheduled to perform in 2020 which didn't happen.

Predictably we got Nul Points this year from both the viewers and the panel.

I heard a podcast a while ago where the Netherlands explained how they changed their whole approach to Eurovision in order to win.  Part of it is touring Europe in the months before the contest, introducing the song and performers to the industry. This probably didn't happen this year because of Covid.  What did happen is that all the countries upped their game and had high production values.  Except us.

I didn't watch on Saturday and wasn't surprised when I saw in the morning that we had come last. Better luck next year. What did you think of the show and result this year?

Last Week's Favourites (Most Clicked)

Montreal blogger Lucy Bertoldi with the second in her series of posts about ageism, "Fashion for Older Women?"  Lucy and I both posted about the topic of ageism at the same time - great minds! Lucy asks why it is that fashion seems to be segregated for older women, as if we are a separate species.  And we are forever being told what not to wear!  Lucy challenges all those ridiculous rules head on, and looks fantastic:

Mireille, from Mireille Fashion Travel Mom, was a hit with her "Old Navy Pixie Pants: I’m in Love!" I had never heard of pixie pants, but Mireille explained it's a term that Old Navy has come up for its range of patterned pants.
