Stealing from Boys - Style Not Age Challenge

Is This Mutton blogger Gail Hanlon in unisex lilac jacket from Asos lilac brogues from the Bias Cut and white trousers from Marks and Spencer in an androgynous but feminine look

Stealing from Boys is Emma's brilliant prompt for the March Style Not Age Challenge.  Fortuitously I had just bought an over sized unisex jacket in lilac and I thought it would work well as part of an androgynous look with a shirt and tie.

Taking the pictures I seemed to develop a bit of attitude - maybe taking the boys' thing a bit seriously!

The blouse is from Boden, the brogues are from The Bias Cut and the belt from Kettlewell Colours. The trousers are new from M&S, Mia slim leg ankle grazers in winter white. I sent for several pairs of white trousers and jeans and these were The Ones.

The tie is the one John wore to our wedding in 2010.  It's been so long since I've worn a tie I couldn't remember how to create the knot.

I've always avoided over sized jackets before because they tend to swamp me, but provided you emphasize your waist and fit on the shoulders, they work well.  I pushed the sleeves up.

Now let's see how Emma, Jacqui, Hilda and Anna got on. Emma from Stylesplash  is wearing a jacket by Devil's Advocate that she bought from TKMaxx. She didn't realise it's a men's only brand - the jacket wasn't modelled  - but she liked the bee motifs so much that she kept it, Her trousers are by Tibi (old), Modalu satchel from eBay and hat from Zara a few years ago.

Anna from Anna's Island Style is wearing a men's trouser suit that she found in a charity shop in Harrogate a few years ago. The blouse is from Tu at Sainsbury's and shoes are from TK Maxx.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish borrowed a t-shirt from her son and added black trousers from TK Maxx and a new blazer complete with shiny buttons from M & S. Shoes are by Vionic.

Hilda's outfit reminds me of early 1970s David Bowie, around the time of Hunky Dory, with the gorgeous "bippetty boppetty hat" and luxurious flares.  See more at Over the Hilda

Her trousers are by Paul Costello and the shirt is from The Bias Cut. Hat borrowed from husband Graham, from Wallaroo. Hilda's new vest is from Mango and the trainers by Adidas.
