Rediscovering My Fashion Sense in Shades of Purple

Life in lockdown was getting to style blogger Gail Hanlon and she ddn't see much point in dressing up for working from hoe. But signs of spring have seen a change of heart as she shows in a tone on tone purple outfit with silver boots. A great way to showcase colour and not look invisible over 50

I lost my fashion mojo for a few weeks. After seeing the UK government's roadmap for getting us slowly out of lockdown, I felt there was no reason to keep on dressing up for life at home, so I reverted to jeans or leggings with hoodies.

But hey, I am a fashion addict, and then, as spring started to tentatively arrive, I rediscovered my love of dressing up. It felt good to be wearing something pretty in my favourite colours.

I wrote a couple of posts recently about the joy of wearing colours that suit you ("Our Lives in Colour, Part 1 and 2). On me I prefer tone on tone colours rather than too much contrast, so this violet cowl top, worn with a lavender ice infinity scarf and velvet violet dazzle skirt (all from Kettlewell) is a great combination with silver boots and belt.

The purples go beautifully with my prized lavender cocoon coat, a big softy thanks to the cashmere blend. The coat sadly hasn't had an outing this year. You need a particular type of weather, cold with no chance of rain, and an occasion (not my daily walks in the forest) to wear it.
