Sometimes it pays to be in the long game. I saw this skirt by Baum und Pferdgarten a while ago at the Bias Cut - there was also a gorgeous matching coat - but the price put me off. I touched it longingly when I saw the skirt in person at a pop up sale last year, but this time my size wasn't available. Then, hallelujah, I saw it online in my size and snapped it up.
I love the drama of the skirt - the deep magenta colour and the sheen of the brocade.
I was tempted by the coat too but didn't think I would get much wear out of it. It would have been wonderful for a winter wedding, or for a trip to the theatre, but nowadays (when the theatres are open) people don't dress up like they used to.
I have far more skirts than anything else in my wardrobe and I love how you can wear them through the seasons by adding or subtracting hosiery, boots / sandals / trainers and short sleeved tops / jumpers / cardigans.
IWearing a cropped cashmere cardigan (old, Boden) with a statement collar top is one of my favourite looks. My tights are sheer 7 denier in black from Aristoc (gifted). I was terrified at the prospect of pulling on 7 denier because in the past I always used to ladder them right away, but sheer is stronger nowadays.
I don't need many new pieces - I made a few investments at the start of the season and I'm looking for a dress for my birthday next month, but apart from that I have enough. Just a few accessories will help modernise some of my outfits.

Nicole from High Latitude Style with her post "Finally - incredibly stylish nude opaque tights." I don't know about you, but hosiery is definitely a highlight for me of the new season. Tights come in so many variations now, colour, patterns. And yes, Nicole is right that opaque nudes have long been a Holy Grail, in the same way that a nude lipstick is. There are so many variations in our skin colour that one nude won't suit everyone.
You style the best monochrome looks and this one is certainly no exception. What a fantastic skirt. I'm reorganizing my closets. Selling all the clothes that aren't my color, are too short or just don't wear anymore. After that I'm going to take a good look of what is missing. Sounds like a plans doesn't it.
