Three ways with a red floral blouse

Over 45s blogger Gail Hanlon was challenged by blogger pal Jacqui Berry to style an M&S red floral blouse three different ways.

A few months ago Jacqui from Mummabstylish and I discovered we had an identical blouse from Marks and Spencer, so we challenged each other to style it several ways. Now we're doing it again with this pretty red and white floral number, also from M&S.

The blouse is in a silky satin and costs £27.50. It was Jacqui's choice and to be honest I would normally have passed it by.  But as I wrote recently, I've latched onto blouses and shirts as my "signature style" for work, wearing them with trousers, skirts or jeans.

Long cardi and grey trousers

Red looks great with grey, I always think, and the blouse worn with straight legged trousers and a long grey cardigan is a good outfit for the office. I added my silver boots from Office London  (now reduced from £90 to £68) and a wide waist belt for my Mutton twist.

Jeans and Jacket

Jeans and a tailored jacket is a smart yet relaxed look for many situations. My jeans are the newest style, high-rise and kick flare, from Swedish brand Waven. The jacket is one I've worn many time before. It was a total bargain a few years ago in a sale, and it's by MaxMara.

I'm wearing it with red and black boots from Lotus, AW17, and a bright red suede cross-the-body bag from Dune.

Black jumper and skirt with quirky shoes

This look reminded me of a school teacher so I grabbed my glasses (spectacles). You'll see that I buttoned the blouse to the neck and rounded off the plain black skirt and black cashmere jumper with a pair of my fun Poetic Licence shoes and some sparkly tights! You have to have a bit of Mutton mischief somewhere. Just after this photo was taken, the battery ran out and I couldn't find the spare, so just one image for this look.

Now let's see what Jacqui has come up with! The red is great with Jacqui's colouring. She has created four different looks - this one features her red pleated skirt, which I love. See the other looks at Mummabstylish.

  1. Lovely offerings with this red blouse which suits you both terribly well Gail. I love the long cardi version best of all, probably helped by those fab metallic boots. Well done to you both!

  2. This is a really pretty blouse. I wear blouses and shirts for work too but they are escaping into non work events too. Just adore your poses.
