I set about acquiring the different outfit elements, starting with the black lace skirt which has tabs to allow you to alter the length. The black fascinator has netting and an interesting skull motif. The cream lace blouse is a romantic, pretty piece which makes a pleasing juxtaposition against the severe black. Finally I added black lace gloves for my Madonna touch, my old black pointy ankle boots and old MaxMara black jacket. The green cross-the-body is a new acquisition.
Mr Mutton's comment on the outfit was "I wouldn't want to go out with you dressed like that" and "I don't see why you can't smile in the pictures." which is something he always says. (Try showing husbands pictures in Vogue where they NEVER smile!).

A big welcome to Hilda Smith from Over The Hilda. Irish blogger Hilda is the latest addition to the team, replacing Ashley from Daisy Jones Style who has gone on to new challenges. How glamorous does Hilda look in this LK Bennett dress and dramatic black heels?
Here's Jacqui from Mummabstylish who set the challenge, also choosing black lace which is great for transitioning from summer to autumn and can be dressed up in many ways.
A close-up of the lace detail on Jacqui's dress, and of course those fabulous shoes.
We're very proud of Anna from Anna's Island Style because she featured on Johnnie Walker's Sounds of the 70s on BBC Radio 2 yesterday and did a fantastic job ( (available on the BBC iPlayer for UK readers). Anna has chosen a fresh and pretty lace look with a pink embellished top and cream lace skirt.
I always love the detail of the accessories that Anna adds. And another marvellous pair of vertiginous heels.I love the way she has styled crisp, smart black trousers with a sheer black lace body that gives a tantalizing glimpse of flesh (although she is wearing underwear, I hasten to add!).
All our outfits are featured on a Pinterest board here, plus the previous challenges.
