So I was thrilled when hosiery giants Charnos offered me a few pairs of their new summer range.
Now I know a lot of us like to cast off our tights, like butterflies emerging from a chrysalis, at the first sign of sunshine. In common with beauty blogger Caroline Hirons, I can't be doing with the faff of fake tans, the risk of orange palms and ankles and that awful smell. Those spray cans of "instant leg makeup" are also a complete no-no. Such a mess.
So I usually wear tights until the annual Greek holiday, when I'll return with tanned legs which will stay brown until the end of summer, assuming we get a few sunny days.
Tights are perfectly fine for summer in my opinion, and for a lot of women who work in the City, they're still essential for work, as well as women who want to look elegant at weddings and smart occasions.
Charnos has several designs with fishnets brought up to date: above I am wearing the diamond net tights in black, and below in natural.
Pop socks are great if they're not recognisable as socks. In chilly spring, they're great to bridge the gap between foot and cropped trouser. Below I'm wearing Charnos knee highs in spot, natural. (Natural with spots did look a bit strange I have to say).
T-shirt: Florence and Fred; black cropped trousers: Next; gold shoes Boden (past season); gold bag Accessorize
Skirt Zara (old); gold mules Marks and Spencer; leopard print bag Next; orange top Next (past season); chain belt Madeleine (old).

I think if I were a city girl then tights would be my thing too, but living by the sea I tend to opt for bare legs as soon as possible. I love the black tights and would certainly wear them myself. The nude with spots is a bit disconcerting though as I'd be worried people might think I had the lurgy! Hahaha x

They are...but you need to be very careful as they are quite fragile! Thanks for the visit Laurie.
DeleteI love pop socks too! I also prefer a real tan to fake and they are perfect for Spring, before I've had a chance to get my legs into the sun.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who likes pop socks! They feel a bit like a guilty secret! Thanks for the visit.
DeleteI only wear plain tights, but these are quite intriguing Gail. x Jacqui

DeleteI am with you Gail! I do love hosiery and tights mainly with patterns. Yours look great with each look and I like the nude one with the white pencil. Just makes you feel more special, right, with the added pattern? Very stylish :-)
