It's lace - but not as we know it

I don't really do lace. But one of the things I'm trying to do this year is break out of comfort zones and try new things.

I was attracted by the rigid lace edging of this navy Ted Baker top. It also comes in a pretty blush colour. I paired it with New Look white trousers and I'm happily choosing the shorter length lately, above the ankle, without my old qualms.

One thing I did note is that a navy bra would have been better for this. In some shots, although I'm wearing beige underpinnings, you can see this through the lace. It's an easy mistake to make and many celebs get caught out, although usually their bras are white. Not even skin tone or beige can work every time.

Here's my obligatory daft pose. Here I'm chanelling the great dancer Nijinsky in his L'Apres Midi D'Un Faun.

  3. I'm a sucker for lace, so I don't think anyone can do wrong in my eyes with lace. I love the combination of blue and white you wore and the fannel edges give it a unique style.

    1. Oh is that what it is - a fannel edge? I'll have to Google that. Not a lace expert as you can tell :-)
      Thanks for visiting Juliet!

  4. I'm like you---I've just started being open to some details...and lace is one of them. I was always that kid who hated lace and flowers. Luckily, I'm getting over that, because it can be so pretty, as you've shown!
I think those white pants are the perfect length---especially with those shoes!!

    1. Thanks Jodie! I can't believe how long it took me to embrace trousers of that length. What a mug!

  5. Hi!
Dark blue is a beautiful colour, I often prefer it to black ( which I think that is too dark next to my face) . Beautiful shoes as well, they look very comfortable...

    1. You're right Dan but black is one of my comfort zones! I love blues in all shades but despite having had my colours done a few years ago, I never feel that any blues really suit me.

  10. That's so lovely Gail and have to say that it would be very flattering to anyone who wants to go sleeveless but feels slightly 'bare'.
