I spotted this pretty dark green sequinned top in the sale when I was staying with my Mum in Plymouth. I'd nipped into the Co-Op for a paper, and came out with the top and a parka (as you do). It crossed my mind that the top would be great for work attire. Yes! Not just for evenings.
I've styled it with a skirt from TU at Sainsbury's (another bargain) and over-the-knee boots. The jacket is one of my favourites and I've had it for years, It's from Max Mara and I firmly believe you should invest in the occasional jacket, coat or bag that will stand the test of time.
I'm also wearing my "Gok Wan" belt, which is great for acting as punctuation in an outfit, particularly when you have a skirt with no defined waist band, and a top that looks strange if it's not tucked in. The hoop earrings are from Sainsbury's and the pearl pin (on the jacket) was from Marks and Spencer, but sold out now.Sharing this post with Fake It Until You Make It at Fake Fabulous, #IwillwearwhatIlike at Not Dressed as Lamb, Sunday Showcase at Elegance and Mommyhood, Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style; Style with a Smile at Stylesplash; Creative Mondays at Claire Justine, Chic&Stylish at Mummabstylish, and Top of the World Style at High Latitude Style.

I think sequins for daytime is perfect but.....I absolutely adore that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy- and such a bargain too from a supermarket, Sainsbury's!
DeleteSuch a lovely St Patrick's outfit. Funny how were throwing all the old rules to the bin now . Good for us I say.

You've styled this top wonderfully for daytime, that's very clever. A wonderful celebratory St Patrick's outfit! x
ReplyDeleteThanks - I wish I'd thought of it sooner for St Patrick's day but didn't take the photos until Sun!

Many thanks Maureen, very kind!
DeleteI work in a school office with a strict dress code - I can't imagine what our Head would say if I turned up in sequins! But it looks so good on you with that fab skirt, it certainly proves that sequins aren't just for nights or special occasions.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to wear the outfit on Weds to an external meeting, so I expect to see a few raised eyebrows myself as I work mostly among engineers :-)
DeleteOh how I love this ensemble! And a perfect St Patrick's outfit a touch of edge. And you are oozing happy as you wear it. I. Love. It. Hugs, x
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary!
DeleteBig YAY! I love bling. Ruffles, glitter, sequins. Bring it all on, day or night! You have created a very professional, work appropriate look with your sequin top and houndstooth skirt. But it would easily transition into a great outfit for an after work dinner date or cocktail. You create the best looks!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Leslie! x
DeleteThis look is so chic. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteGreat bit of styling here Gail. I love the idea of conservative styling with a bit of sparkle - fabulous. I'd wear all of this!

Praise indeed from you Anna. I'm thrilled!
DeleteFabulous outfit Gail! I love the sequin top (I didn't know the Co-op sold clothes) and check skirt! I'll be storing that tip about the belt for future reference! Thank you for linking up!

They have a Dorothy Perkins concession --- but a few years ago, Plymouth had a big Co-Op department store that did sell a lot of the big brands. Sadly the store closed and is still empty.
DeleteI absolutely love this jeweled tone of emerald green on you. WOW! That skirt and top are magnificent and the chic blazer makes the look even more polished and sort of Chanel-esque.
ReplyDeleteWelcome by this Thursday to linkup with my style link-up. Thanks, SAda. =)
I adore sequins any time of the year. Gail you look absolutely fabulous...
